* [HUH?] About CWCheat for Mac OS X *
*************************************
Simply put, CWCheat for Mac OS X is a database editor for the popular 'Cheat Device' for PSP, known as CWCheat created by weltall. It allows you to easily and effectively modify and manage your cheat database. With a rapidly growing cheat database, it's very easy to get lost in it, especially when trying to find what you are looking for with a regular text editor. This is where this database front end comes in handy. You can add, remove, or modify your cheats, all at the press of a button.

The latest version of CWCheat can be found at:

* [WHAT] What is CWCheat? *
*************************************
CWCheat is a popular cheat device for the PSP. It can be used through DevHook, a popular firmware emulation program on the PSP. Because it's running as part of the firmware, it can be used with absolutely any game available for the PSP. With CWCheat, you can access codes from the User-Made database, or even search for your own, whether it be known values such as ammo or health, or unknown values such as life meters that contain no visual numerical value.

* [HOW?] How to use CWCheat *
*************************************
Using CWCheat is very straight forward. Here are the different sections of CWCheat and the different functions available in each section.

CHEAT EDITOR - The meat of the program. If you press the Open button, locate your cheat.db file and have fun. Upon loading a cheat file, a separate window displaying all of the games in the database will appear. Clicking on a game will show the available codes for that game in the Description list. Clicking on a description will reveal the value(s) for the specified code. The game ID is also shown in the ID Field. Using the buttons attached to the appropriate list, you can add, delete, and edit the game name, ID, descriptions, and values. If the ID or Values are not valid entries, the original entry will be restored.

If you connect your PSP through USB and hold the Option key while pressing the Open button, CWCheat will load your database straight from the PSP for modification. This way you do not need to load the database every time if you only feel like editing directly on your PSP.

Another option available is to sort the game list or description list. If the Game List is in focus, the sort button will display 'Sort Games'. By pressing the Sort Games button, the list will be organized alphabetically. The same can be done with the Codes; by putting the Code List into focus, the sort button will display 'Sort Codes'. Again, pressing it will sort the codes alphabetically. Good for the fanatics like myself.

A new feature introduced into v0.2 is the option to edit the CWCheat preferences on the PSP. Connect your PSP and press the 'PSP CWCheat Prefs' button. You are able to edit and save new changes for the default settings of CWCheat. Currently, not all options are supported and will be editable in future versions.

When you are finished all your editing, press the 'Save' button to save your changes to the database. A dialog box will then alert you that the database has indeed been saved.

TOOLS

You can select your main database to do a couple of things: AutoLoad and Backing up/Restoring. By selecting a cheat file, the extra options will become available. Checking the 'AutoLoad on Open' checkbox will have that database automatically load upon opening CWCheat. If your cheat file is on your memory stick and the memory stick is not present, you will be faced with eternal damnation and a nasty virus will destroy your hard drive! Just kidding :) It will just return an error saying that the database can't be located. Just insert your memory stick and relaunch the database or CWCheat.

You also have the option to backup or restore your selected database. This can be handy if you plan on doing a lot of modifications to your database and ultimately screw up your database, you'll be happy that you backed up your database :) It also comes in handy when you update CWCheat on the PSP, and it overwrites your database, you can easily restore your previous database with the press of a button. It will also tell you the last time you backed up the database, which can be handy for some people who really need to know :)

DB INFO
By pressing this tab you can see the current 'statistics' of the loaded database. It displays the number of games, codes, and number of games associated for each region.

UPDATE CHEAT.DB
When you load your cheat.db file, you can choose to update it straight from the CWCheat server. By pressing the 'Update Cheat.db' button, it will connect to the server and update your database. After updating the database, you need to press the 'Save' button to save the updated database.

I'm always open to any suggestions or feedback you might have, whether it be suggestions for a new feature, nice comments about the program, or flames of fury, damning me to hell for writing such an abomination of a program. Just be sure that when you email me, the subject line starts with 'CWCheat - <your subject>' (Where <your subject> is the subject line you want to include in the email.

* [COOL] Things to Implement *
*************************************
Replace the Tools tab with a Submit tab, allowing you to directly submit cheats to the main cwcheat server.
Add a preferences window, for things like auto-sorting, auto-loading, auto updating, etc.

I'm always open to suggestions, so if you have any nice ideas to add to this program, I'll probably add it in, and of course credit you in the about window :)
